Copy Grades is a useful tool in trackers that allows you to select assessment, unit, or summary grades to copy into editable Summary Grade columns. If selecting multiple grades, they are combined into an average grade.
This tool is most useful for schools using Flexi Grade who are wanting to report an average grade aligning with selected units. However, it can also be used to copy selected grades into Teacher Predicted Grades (TPGs).
Get started with Copy Grades
To use Copy Grades, open Live Tracking for a class or Year Group Overview, then go to Tools > Copy Grades.
Select grades
Select the dropdown below From to view all available grades to copy from.
This will include all Customised and Published Assessments that are visible on the tracker, Current Unit Grades for each unit, and Summary Grades.
You can select just one of these grades, or multiple grades to combine and average.
Then, select the dropdown below To and choose the column you want to copy the grade(s) into.
This will include TPG and the name of your school's Flexi Grade if one has been set up for the year group, e.g. Mock Grade.
Round the average
If you select multiple grade columns to copy into one Summary Grade, you'll need to select Round up or Round down if the average grade falls between two values.
This is because average grades are calculated using only grades, not marks, and so there are no mark boundaries to determine each grade.
For example, if copying the Current Unit Grade for Unit 1 and Unit 2 and a student achieves a 6 in Unit 1 and a 9 in Unit 2, this would mean that their average grade without rounding would be 7.5 ( (6+9) Γ· 2 ).
Final step
Select COPY GRADES to confirm. You'll then see a notification in the bottom left corner that the tracker is updating, and another notification once it's updated.
The page should refresh automatically, with copied grades showing in your selected Summary Grade column.
π Team Tip
Copied grades are fixed, not dynamic. This means they do not update automatically if unit or assessment grades change, as the Average Unit Grade does.
