How do I add rotation classes to Pupil Progress?
After working alongside hundreds of schools to track Key Stage 3 subjects effectively, we've recognised a few distinct ways that rotation classes can be set up on an MIS (Arbor/SIMS/Bromcom etc).
Below outlines the most common ways that rotation classes are set up, and correspondingly the best way to get these added to Pupil Progress.
1. Classes remain on the MIS all year round
This allows for the most straightforward way of adding classes to Pupil Progress, as these can then be added in the same way as any other classes in your school.
They would then just be used during the rotation period, and left unedited for the rest of the school year.
2. Student membership of classes changes as rotations occur
Sometimes, a school will change the students in a class upon each rotation, leaving the class name consistent throughout the year.
For example:
A Food & Nutrition class named '8s/Fo1' may run all throughout the year, with the pupils assigned to it changing every half term. As the enrolment of the class changes, you will notice pupils from previous rotations moving into a tracker named 'Not assigned to a class'.
Something to note:
This tracker will allow data to be saved even when they are no longer in a class on your MIS, with the number of students in the unassigned tracker gradually rising throughout the year as more students are rotated.
3. Classes are only live on the MIS during the rotation period
If your rotation classes are only live on your MIS during the time period that the students are taking that subject, which seems to be most common from our experience, the best option would be for us to upload the classes manually to ensure that data is as clear as possible.
In this case, reach out to our Support team in the bottom right corner of the platform and we can take it from there.
π Team Tip
If your classes are set up a different way to what is listed above, get in touch with our Onboarding team to discuss this in more detail.
