Due to any variations of your classes' tests, perhaps by removing certain topics to only assess specific areas, their format may not match up with the exam board's specification. Pupil Progress is designed to support this by automatically scaling marks to be in line with what the exam board has set.

How does the scaling of marks work for Customised Assessments?

Enter your students' marks in real time and the tracker will automatically scale them to the exam board's specification, providing a grade accordingly based on the boundaries you have set.

For guidance on how to change your grade boundaries, take a look at this article:

An example

OCR GCSE Computer Science Unit 1 is assessed via an exam with a maximum mark of 80, with this class having already completed 2 full past papers.

From the image below, we can see that a Customised Assessment has been added with a maximum mark of 50, in order to only test certain areas. In the column directly to the right, you are able to see the Scaled Total Marks if this had been a full past paper:

Something to note:

  • This calculation works for Customised Assessments both above and below the maximum marks available for a unit assessment, helping to ensure that your tracking and monitoring data stays accurate to exam board specification.
