Why would I want to add my own tests?

Our trackers calculate the grade exactly as the exam board you are using does. As such, the trackers reflect the course structure, replicating all components and component content - this is all done for you by us!

We understand, however, that you might need pupils to sit an end of topic test to assess progress, or sit an adjusted mock where some questions from topics that have not been covered have been removed. Therefore, you can add your personalised tests to your tracker at any point using the Customised Assessment feature.

If you're a School Admin or Leader of a subject area, you'll be able to add any tests to your trackers.

⚠️ Please note: The video below is currently outdated due to recent updates to the platform, so please refer to the written steps below in the meantime.

8 steps to adding a Customised Assessment

You can use the shortcut to add a test directly from your tracker by following these steps:

  1. On the left hand menu within you're chosen tracker, select the blue Add Assessment button, and choose Customised Assessment. Your qualification will have been automatically selected for you

  2. Fill in details about your assessment, such as the name, date it was sat and whether it counts towards unit and summary grades

  3. Choose either a Single mark or Question Level Analysis (QLA)

  4. If adding QLA, you can edit the number of questions, question names and maximum number of marks available. You can also assign each question to one or multiple topic areas

  5. Adjust the grade boundaries from -10% to +10% to vary the level of difficulty

  6. Choose which classes you would like the assessment visible on

  7. Click Save and Collapse, then Create Assessments

  8. Return to your tracker and start entering the relevant marks, make sure the columns are maximised by clicking the grey plus icon at the top of a column!

What will adding a test tell me?

Identify which topics your class is doing well in

  • Add tests at Question Level Analysis, where you are able to tag the questions included in your tests against the topic areas that are listed in the specification.

  • Outcomes of each question not only contribute to the overall mark, they are also presented in an overall Topic Summary area as a percentage so that you are able to easily identify the weaker topic areas. Learn more about Topic Summaries:

Receive a grade for each paper

  • All tests that you add will automatically have a grade calculated based on the grade boundaries that you have set for the tracker. This gives you complete consistency across all assessments. Read more about adjusting grade boundaries on your tracker:

Ensure accurate total marks in line with the unit outcomes

  • The tracker will scale your test marks to be reflective of the marks of a past paper. This ensures that the grade boundaries accurately reflect the grade your student would achieve if this was a formal assessment.

πŸ“– Pupil Progress Tip

Don't forget the final step to adding an assessment - click Create Assessments - otherwise your assessment won't upload and will continue to pop up in assessment recovery.
