What are Topic Summaries?

โš ๏ธ Please note: The video below is currently outdated due to recent updates to the platform, so please refer to the written steps below in the meantime.

Video Summary:

  • Why Can't I enter data into the Topic Summary? The 'No Entry' sign pops up within the Tracker, because a percentage score is automatically updated for each Topic/AO anytime data is added to a Customised or Published Assessment.

  • The Topic Summary is intended as an overall marker across the whole course, so the Topic Summary will include data for all units.

  • You can utilise the Topic Summary alongside other Pupil Progress features such as sorting and the Target Grid to identify opportunity areas and intervention groups.

What does the Topic Summary include?

  • The Topic Summary section in a tracker represents the available topics from your chosen specification.

  • Each Published or Customised Assessment that includes Question Level Analysis can be linked to the topics included under Topic Summary.

Something to note:

  • Published Assessments that are preloaded from us on the system have each question included in the paper automatically linked to the respective topic.

  • Meaning you can assess immediately which topics your students are performing best, and which topics may need further revision based on the percentage shown in the Topic Summary.

How do I link my own test's questions with the topics?

When creating a Customised Assessment with QLA, you can link each question to its respective topics. (Click below to expand the GIF)

How will this look on the Tracker?

  • Once you enter data for each question, the tracker will display how well (in %) the pupil has scored on each topic.

  • If there are multiple questions under the same topic, the tracker will display the average of those scores.

Within your Assessment List, if an Assessment is set as not 'Counting Towards Summary Grades' it will be excluded from both Summary and Topic Summary calculations
