Cautionary Notes

  • Progress 8 outputs are based on historical data and should be treated as indicative, not definitive.

  • Ensure KS2 data is uploaded if you want to use features that depend on it.

  • Check that student group labels from the MIS are accurate before comparing subgroups.

  • Snapshot comparisons are only meaningful when the two snapshots represent different points in time.

  • If your school does not have all students taking all subjects, subject comparisons may need additional context.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use filters to compare groups quickly instead of manually exporting and sorting data.

  • Create snapshots at regular milestones so progress can be reviewed without chasing staff for tracker updates.

  • Use the average score row to quickly identify subjects that need deeper investigation.

  • Compare PP and non-PP first when reviewing equity gaps, then expand to SEN and other groups.

  • Use snapshots to evidence the impact of interventions and remedial work over time.
