If you have added or removed questions from a past paper sat by your students, Pupil Progress' Modify Assessment feature allows you to update the assessment without needing to create the assessment from scratch. Please note that this feature is only accessible to School Admins and Leaders of subject areas.

How can I modify the questions on a Published Assessment?

Watch the video below for a walk through of how you can edit your past papers:

Video Summary

Follow these 8 steps to copy and modify a Published Assessment:

  1. From within a tracker, click the Tools toggle, select Add Assessment and choose Copy Existing Assessment

  2. Alternatively, you can do this from the homepage by going to Tracking > Assessments, click the blue button Add New Assessment and then Copy Existing Assessment

Click to expand the image below and see the steps live ↓

3. The Target Tracker (the one that you're already on) should automatically fill in the course details

4. Fill in the details for the Source Tracker, i.e. the one you're looking to add the assessment from. In the majority of cases, this will be the both of these will be the same, but there may be some cases where it differs, like if you are looking to add an AS-Level paper to an A-Level tracker

5. The Assessment Name dropdown will show all of the available papers you can copy from, find the assessment you're looking to add and then click the blue Copy Selected button

6. This converts the paper to a Customised Assessment, allowing you to make any changes you need to, including to the QLA and grade boundaries. You can remove, duplicate, or move questions up or down in the list by clicking the three dots to the right of any question. You can also Add Another Question at the bottom of the list

Some things to note:

  • As the tracker creates a scaled mark for this assessment, it doesn't matter whether the maximum amount of marks are above or below that of the actual paper.

  • For subjects with optional questions (such as GCSE Geography), the assessment will no longer be able to select the best answer, and will increase the maximum amount of marks instead - in this specific example, you could add a 'Food/Water/Energy' question instead.

7. Once you're done, click Save and Collapse, where you'll have the option to add any other assessments at the same time. If you've added all of the assessments that you need, click Create Assessments to save these to your trackers

8. Return to your tracker by clicking on Tracking at the top of the page and using the filters to navigate by course. If you refresh the page, the assessment will be in your tracker ready for you to enter your data! You may need to expand the columns using the grey plus icon.
