Hide assessments explained
From setup, all trackers contain a Default Assessment in each unit/paper/term. This ensures clarity in the tracker's structure, and allows all grades to be calculated correctly.
As you begin to add more assessments to your tracker, whether that's your own Customised Assessments or Published Assessments from a particular series, you may wish to use Hide Assessments.
Hide assessments is useful for:
Hiding the default assessment if it's not relevant for your data entry.
Hiding an assessment that you don't want to view the data for currently.
Hiding any assessments that you don't want to include in reports.
π‘ Tip: Hiding an assessment is preferable to deleting it, as this means the data is still saved on the platform if you need to restore it in the future.
How to hide an assessment
Step 1: Navigate to the Assessment List
You can access the Assessment List from the Tracking homepage by hovering over Tracking in the top menu and selecting Assessments. Then, use the filters to view your Subject Area, Course, and Year Group.
Or, from within a class, simply select Edit Assessments in the left menu.
Step 2: Hide the assessment
To hide an assessment from all classes, click the three dots to the far right of the assessment and select HIDE.
To hide an assessment from selected classes, click QUICK EDIT to the right of the tracker name and untick the boxes corresponding to the classes that the assessment appears in. Then, click SAVE CHANGES.
π‘Tip: Looking to hide all assessments? Select HIDE ALL ASSESSMENTS in the top bar of the Quick Edit menu.
View hidden assessments
Once you have hidden at least one assessment on a tracker, you'll see the option SHOW HIDDEN ASSESSMENTS. Select this to view all hidden assessments alongside visible assessments in the list.
Hidden assessments are clearly identifiable with an icon below the assessment name.
Do hidden assessments impact students' grades?
For hidden assessments, you'll notice both options Count Towards
Summary Grades and Count Towards Topic/Skills Summary are non-selectable.
This is because hiding an assessment for all classes means it's automatically stopped from counting towards Summary Grades and the Topic Summary.
π‘ Note: Hiding the only assessment within a unit will not remove that unit from counting towards Summary Grades. The unit boundaries will still be used in grade calculations regardless. Learn more.
