Note: Assessment features are only accessible to School Admins and Leaders of a Subject Area. User permission levels can be easily amended by a School Admin.

When adding a Published or Customised Assessment to a tracker, both of the following fields are selected by default: Count towards Unit and Summary Grades and Count towards Topic / Skills Summary. This means that your assessment data will impact both Topic Summary percentages and Summary grades.

If your assessment is low stakes or an end of topic test, you may wish to count it only within the Topic Summary. This means that you can still observe all analytics from the QLA (Question Level Analysis), using them to inform your teacher judgements and interventions, without including the results in final grade calculations.

Add assessments to count towards the Topic Summary only

To add an assessment for the Topic Summary only:

  1. From the top menu, hover over Tracking and select Assessments from the dropdown. Then, click the blue Add Assessments button.

  2. Alternatively from within a tracker, select Add New Assessment from the left menu.

  3. Choose either Customised, Published, or Copy Existing Assessment.

  4. At Step 2, untick the option Count towards Unit and Summary Grades, and ensure Count towards Topic / Skills Summary remains ticked.

  5. Complete the remaining fields and create your assessment.

  6. Once you return to the tracker and input assessment marks, percentages in the Topic Summary will update live, while Summary Grades will not be impacted.

Select which assessments count towards the Topic Summary

To amend which existing assessments are counting towards the Topic Summary and towards Summary Grades:

  1. From the top menu, hover over Tracking and select Assessments from the dropdown. Alternatively from within a tracker, select Edit Assessments in the left menu.

  2. Click Quick Edit in the top right corner of the relevant qualification's box.

  3. Untick Count towards Summary Grades and ensure Count towards Topic / Skills Summary is left ticked. This means that assessment data will impact the Topic Summary only.

  4. Click Save Changes in the top right once you've made your selection.
