In April 2026, we introduced two modes for all trackers: Data Entry and Tracker Analysis. This update was designed to create a more efficient, intuitive, and task-focused Pupil Progress experience.
Data Entry is for entering students’ marks quickly and efficiently, while Tracker Analysis is a read-only mode that allows you to engage with your data.
Tracker Modes explained
Tracker Mode vs Tracker View
A mode represents the functional state of a system (what you can do), while a view represents the visual presentation of data (what you see).
This is good to understand before navigating the platform as you find yourself switching between tracker modes (Data Entry and Tracker Analysis) and tracker views (Live Tracking, Forecast, and Snapshots).
Navigate Tracker Modes
On the Trackers homepage, the single Live Tracking button has been replaced with separate buttons for each mode. Live Tracking for each class is still available, you just need to choose the mode you want to use before opening it.
Alternatively, to open a Year Group Overview, click the three dots to the far right of the tracker name and select OPEN YEAR GROUP DATA ENTRY or OPEN YEAR GROUP TRACKER ANALYSIS.
What can you do in each mode?

Switch between Modes and Views
Switch between Data Entry and Tracker Analysis
In your class or year group tracker, you can easily switch between modes using the second dropdown in the top-left corner of the page.
Switch between Live Tracking, Forecast and Snapshots
You can still access the different tracker views (Live Tracking, Forecast, and Snapshots) within each mode. To switch from Live Tracking to view Forecast or Snapshots, use the first dropdown in the top-left corner.
You can use Forecast in both Data Entry and Tracker Analysis modes, depending on whether you want to change marks or use analysis tools. However, Snapshots are in Tracker Analysis mode by default. Once you select Snapshot, a pop-up is displayed with options to select next steps: Create, View, or Compare.
📖 Team Tip
If you're unable to input data into columns and are faced with a no-entry icon, check which tracker mode you're using. You can only input marks when in Data Entry mode.
