Participate in the 2024 PiXL Waves powered by Pupil Progress

If you're reading this article, that means you're more than likely already a Pupil Progress user (from a PiXL member school) - and in which case there's very little that you need to do!

However, there are a couple of steps to check off:

βœ”οΈ Ensure that your classes are active and ready to use. Again, it's very likely that this is already completed. However, if not, take a look at our guide to set up classes.

βœ”οΈ Ensure assessments have been added to your tracker. To add assessments for either Maths or English, take a look at our guide to add Published Assessments.

Participate in the PiXL Waves: Maths

PiXL recommend using the Summer 2024 series past papers for all exam boards, and both tiers. These have already been uploaded to Pupil Progress at QLA and are ready for you to add to your trackers.

However, if you have added or removed any questions, or created your own question paper using a tool like ExamBuilder, this is not a problem at all; you're able to add a Customised Assessment to your tracker instead.

πŸ’‘ If you've added your mock exams as Customised Assessments, rather than Published, make sure that each question is linked to a topic using the dropdown box between the question name and max marks. This is essential for PiXL to be able to access your data!

Participate in the PiXL Waves: English

For both English Language and Literature, PiXL advise using the Summer 2024 exam series for this year's Waves, across all exam boards.

As both English GCSEs utilise a repeatable exam structure, you won't see the option to add a specific paper when creating your Published Assessment. Instead, you can use the Name field to signify the paper that you've added.

πŸ’‘ You're also able to use the Customised Assessment feature if you have added or removed any questions from a full published paper. For example, you may want to assess only Section A or Section B of a certain paper, rather than both.

For guidance on how to do this, take a look at the article linked below πŸ‘‡

Next steps

PiXL will use data from the Topic Summary, taking overall percentage scores for each AO (for English) or topic (for Maths).

These columns will populate automatically from the data entered into your assessments, taking an average of all mock papers that are counting towards the Unit and Summary grades.
