How can I add a mixed calculator and non-calculator paper to my Maths tracker?

The Maths trackers have a unique feature that allows you to add an assessment that is not linked to a specific Past Paper. This is to support maths departments that combine calculator and non-calculator questions into one End of Topic Test.

To do this:

  1. Click the Tools toggle

  2. Click Add Assessments

  3. Select Customised Assessment

  4. Select End of Topic Tests from the Unit dropdown (this can be done for either or both tiers if you're adding the assessment to a GCSE tracker - Pictured in the GIF below)

Watch the 3-minute video below for a more detailed walkthrough:

Switching off Counting towards the Unit and Summary Grades

Why is the Current Grade the same as the Average Unit Grade?

  • Adding in this unit has made some unique changes to Maths trackers for the Current Grade.

  • This grade will now be based on a Scaled Average Mark from all the Past Paper Units and the End of Topic Tests units that have data.

  • If one or more of the units have no marks, then they are ignored in the Scaled Average Unit Total.

This gives a more realistic idea of your students current attainment levels!

How can I make a Customised Assessment count/not count towards the grade?

  • You may wish to still show a Customised Assessment on the tracker and reports, but for it not to count.

To do this;

  1. Go to Tools

  2. Click Edit Assessments to access your Assessment Lists

  3. Select Quick Edit

  4. Deselect the Counting towards the Unit and Summary Grades box for the Customised Assessment

  5. To make it count again, simply re-tick Counting towards the Unit and Summary Grades box and save the changes.

Something to note:

You will notice that in the Summary section the Customised Assessment column will now be blank, showing that the marks for it are not being included in the Scaled Average Total.

How can I hide a Customised Assessment for a class?

From your class tracker;

  1. Go to Tools

  2. Click Edit Assessments to access your Assessment Lists

  3. Select Quick Edit

  4. Untick the classes that you want to hide the Customised Assessment for and then press Save Assessment.

πŸ“– Pupil Progress Tip

When hiding your Assessments, the data will still be saved, so if you come back and re-select the classes, the Customised Assessments will be restored along with the data.
