Why can I invite some students or parents but not others?

There are a couple of common reasons why this might be the case.

Confirmed or Deactivated parents

Firstly, if the parent already has an active account (or has had one in the past which has then been deactivated) you will not be able to re-invite them. If this is the case the relevant parent row in My School > Parents or My School > Students will show the App Status as Confirmed or Deactivated.

For Deactivated students or parents who you wish to reactivate, click the three dots button to the right hand side of the relevant row for the parent, then click Activate.

Student date of birth not populated

If you do not see the three dots button by a parent name in the My School > Parents or student name in My School > Students, the likely reason is that the student does not have a date of birth set in Pupil Progress. To check if this is the case, for parents:

  • Click the Edit button to the right hand side of the relevant row for the parent

  • Check that the student(s) details showing at the bottom of the parent record are correct

  • Click the student name to go to the student record

  • Check if the student has date of birth populated

Or for students:

  • Find the student in My School > Students

  • Check if the student has date of birth populated

If the date of birth is not populated for the student, check that this information is populated for the student on the school MIS, and if not, add it. The date of birth should pull through to Pupil Progress the day after the change is made in the MIS.

Other cases

Is the steps above do not identify and resolve the issue, continue to look for another cause, or contact Pupil Progress support.
