How can I add mathematical symbols to my tracker's text fields?

  • For teachers of Maths and Science, it may sometimes be helpful to add symbols to your tracker as a way to increase clarity, both for yourself and on the students' reports.

There are a few ways that you can do this, depending on the computer that you use;

1. Key Command:

  • The first would be to use the key command for your computer type to enter the cell into the box.

  • For example, the delta symbol can be entered on a Mac with Option+J. You should be able to find a full list of symbol key commands for your computer by searching Google (ex. 'Math symbol key commands Dell Windows laptop'). (Pictured in the GIF below).

2. External Sources:

  • Alternatively, you are able to copy the symbols from a different source and paste them into the text fields on Pupil Progress.

  • We would tend to recommend the Wikipedia page on Mathematical operators and symbols in Unicode, as this contains a full list of the available symbols that you can enter into your tracker. (Pictured in the GIF below).
