The Snapshot feature allows you to capture, view, and compare trackers from specific points in time. This means you're able to see the progress students have made, perhaps between two mock points or before and after an intervention.
Upon creating a snapshot, the platform will record and save the position your trackers are in at that very moment (e.g. 9th September).
Not only are you able to view and refer back to these time points whenever you need, you're also able to compare snapshots to each other, or to other features such as Live Tracking or Forecast.
Create a Snapshot
School-Level Snapshots
School Admin users are able to create a snapshot of all subject areas by following these steps:
Hover over My School and select Snapshots from the dropdown.
Click the blue button Add New School-Level Snapshot.
Name your snapshot - this is how it will show for staff, as well as on reports sent via the Pupil Progress App.
Choose whether to take your snapshot immediately or at a scheduled date.
Click Continue. It will take a few minutes for the snapshot to save, depending on the amount of data involved.
Subject-Level Snapshots
School Admins and Subject Leaders are able to create a snapshot of a specific qualification by following these steps:
Within Live Tracking for a class, select Snapshots from the left menu.
Choose Create from the options within the pop-up menu.
Name your snapshot and click Continue.
A snapshot will be created for all classes in the year group that are assigned to that qualification.
View Snapshots
School Admin users can view a list of all previously created school-level snapshots within My School > Snapshots.
Whilst all users are able to view subject-level snapshots within Live Tracking for a class, by heading to Snapshots > View and selecting View next to the relevant snapshot.
Set up your tracker view to include previous snapshot values, and compare these alongside live values π
Compare progress effectively
The Compare functionality allows you to compare a Snapshot, Live Tracking or Forecast with each other. This provides a crystal-clear picture of how much progress has been made between two points in time (snapshots) or between two trackers.
Comparisons are highlighted in a new cell above the existing ones, containing the difference in marks between sources. These are highlighted using the key below:
Green - The students' mark is the same in both sources
Blue - The students' mark is higher in source 1 than source 2
Red - The students' mark is lower in source 1 than source 2
Note: The example in this image is a comparison of the Live Tracker and the Forecast tracker.
To view comparisons, head to Snapshots from the left menu and select Compare. You can then set the sources as any of the below combinations depending on what you're looking for π
Snapshot vs Snapshot
To compare progress students have made between two mock points, choose:
Source 1: Snapshot from most recent data point
Source 2: Snapshot from previous data point
Live Tracking vs Snapshot
To see how far students have progressed since the last snapshot was recorded, choose:
Source 1: Live Tracking
Source 2: Snapshot
Live Tracking vs Forecast
To see how far each student is from achieving their forecasted target, choose:
Source 1: Live Tracking
Source 2: Forecast
Compare within Analysis
School-level snapshots can also be used for comparisons within Analysis, allowing Subject Leaders see progress in summary grades across all subjects. Just head to Analysis > Grades Summary, and select Snapshots from the left menu.
π Team Tip
Take a Subject-Level Snapshot following data entry for a mock exam series, providing you with a useful point of comparison for the next round of mocks.
