Filters is a tool found in trackers and Analysis that allows you to select which students show on your tracker, based upon a selected characteristic.

One of the filtering criteria you'll see is Comparison to MTG, which filters students based on the distance between their achieved grades and target grades.

Filter your class based on students' distance from their target

To add a compare to target grade filter to a tracker:

  1. Select Filters in the left menu.

  2. Select COMPARISON TO MTG and dropdown options will appear below.

  3. Under Grade Column, select the grade you want to compare to targets. This could be a specific assessment or unit. Note that only grades from expanded units will be visible here.

To filter by overall attainment against their target grade, the best option to select it Summary | Average Unit Grade | Average Unit Grade.

  4. Under Value, you can select one or multiple distance values. For example, select One grade away and Off target to view all students that haven't met their MTG.

  5. Select ADD FILTER. The students showing in the tracker will update and you'll notice a red circle appear next to the Filters icon, displaying the number of Filters that have been applied.

    πŸ’‘ Note:

    • Select CLEAR ALL FILTERS to remove all filters from the tracker and view the whole class or year group.

    • Filters are user-specific, meaning they won't be applied for other staff members using the same tracker.

πŸ“– Team Tip

Filtering allows you to recognise where interventions are needed to ensure that each student achieves what they are capable of, as well as identifying over-performing students so that this can be celebrated.
