Trackers for the new academic year won't be available until September, but you can still get a head start by creating your assessments in advance.

There's no pressure to set everything up right away - our assessment tools are designed to make the process quick and easy. That said, if you'd like to get ahead of the post-summer admin, this guide will walk you through the steps.

1. Create Assessments

Add next year's assessments to your current tracker by following the steps below:

  1. Within Live Tracking for a class or Year Group Overview, select the blue Add New Assessment button in the left menu.

  2. Choose your assessment type: Published, Customised, or Copy Existing Assessment.

  3. Fill in the details of your assessment as you typically would.

    1. You may want to title the assessment clearly to indicate it's for the next academic year (e.g. Mock Exam - October 2025).

  4. Once you're done, click Save and Collapse at the bottom of the page and then Create Assessments on the following page.

2. Hide Assessments

To avoid confusion with the current year's assessments, hide future assessments within the Assessment List until you need them. To do this:

  1. Within Live Tracking, select Edit Assessments in the left menu to open your Assessment List.

  2. Click Quick Edit to the far right of the tracker title.

  3. Untick the box under each class name for the assessment(s) you'd like to hide.

  4. Click Save Changes to the far right of the tracker title.

  5. Once you return to the tracker, the selected assessments will be hidden from the tracker view.

3. Add Assessments to the new trackers

For continuing year groups

As part of the academic year migration, our team work to migrate all data for continuing year groups (Year 10-11 and Year 12-13). This means that your previously created assessments will already be on the new tracker. Come September, you'll need to simply re-tick them within the Assessment List:

  1. Within Live Tracking, select Edit Assessments in the left menu.

  2. Click Quick Edit to the far right of the tracker title.

  3. Tick the box underneath each class name for the assessment(s) you want to display.

  4. Click Save Changes to the far right of the tracker title.

  5. Return to the tracker and expand (+) the unit that the assessment sits in, you can then begin entering your data.

For all other year groups

For KS3 and newly added Year 10 and 12 classes, you'll need to copy your assessments over from the previous year into the new trackers:

  1. From the Tracking homepage, select Live Tracking for any class tracker you want to add the assessment to.

  2. Click the blue Add New Assessment button in the left menu, then choose Copy Existing Assessment.

  3. Scroll down to Select Source, change the Assessment Type to Customised Assessment, and the Academic Year to the relevant previous year.

  4. Select the relevant assessment(s) from the Assessment Name dropdown and then click Copy Selected.

  5. Here, you'll need to select which unit to add the assessment to. You can also make any changes to the assessment details.

  6. Once ready, click Save and Collapse at the bottom of the page and then Create Assessments on the following page.

πŸ’‘ Re-using assessments from previous years with Copy Existing Assessment is a great way to save time on assessment creation, as means you won't have to start from scratch.
