What do I need to do to participate in the the 2023 PiXL Waves powered by Pupil Progress?
If you're reading this article, that means you're more than likely already a Pupil Progress user (from a PiXL member school) - and in which case there's very little that you need to do! However;
You'll want to make sure that your classes are active and ready to use. Again, it's very likely that this is already the case. If not, follow this link for a video with more info on how you can add these.
You'll also need to ensure that your assessments have been added to your tracker; the section below provides subject-specific information

Participating in the PiXL Waves: Maths
PiXL recommend using the Summer 2023 series past papers for all exam boards, and both tiers.
These have already been uploaded to Pupil Progress at QLA and are ready for you to add to your trackers.

However, if you have added or removed any questions, or created your own question paper using a tool like ExamBuilder, this is not a problem at all - you're able to add a Customised Assessment to your tracker instead.
Something to note:
If you've added your mock exams as Customised Assessments, rather than Published, make sure that each question is linked to a topic using the dropdown box between the question name and max marks. This is essential for PiXL to be able to access your data!
Participating in the PiXL Waves: English
Again, for both English Language and Literature, PiXL advise using the Summer 2023 exam series for this year's Waves, across all exam boards.
As both English GCSEs utilise a repeatable exam structure, you won't see the option to add a specific paper when creating your Published Assessment.
Instead, you can use the 'Name' field to signify the paper that you've added.
Something to note:
Similarly to Maths, you are also able to use Pupil Progress' Customised Assessment feature if you have added or removed any questions from a full published paper. For example, you may want to assess only Section A or Section B of a certain paper, rather than both.

What happens following data entry?
PiXL will use the data from the Topic Summary area, taking overall percentage scores for each AO (in the case of English) or topic (Maths).
These columns will be populated automatically from the data entered into your assessments, taking an average of all mock papers that are counting towards the Unit and Summary grades.
Should you have any other assessments on your tracker, you may wish to ensure that they are not counting towards the overall grades if you want these to be solely based on your mocks.
Something to note:
After your assessments have been created and your data is entered, you're done - there's no extra downloading or uploading necessary.
The deadline for entering your data is 11:59pm on the 4th December 2023. Any data entered after this date risks not being included in the PiXL Waves.
